On 19 December 2012 a group of first-year students of International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) at Arnhem Business School won the final of the Twinfield Businessplan Award. Ac-cording to the jury, winner Beachreader was by far the best with a very practical business plan and very enthusiastic and good team work. The team won the Twinfield Businessplan Award plus €400.

Winners
Winning team Beachreader presented themselves with an appealing stand and a convincing presenta-tion, in which their business plan was explained in 4 minutes. The team have developed a smart solu-tion for attaching your tablet during a sunbath on the beach.

The other winners are Poofume for the best stand. The award for best performance was won by Bhineka.

Business talent of the year: Christina Bollman
Business talent of the year is Christine Bollman of the Bhineka team. She was elected business talent by coach Jon Craven: “I have nominated Christina for this award, because in my view she is the bestallround candidate in the Bhineka team. She is not only creative and strongly committed to the project, but also a good team player and organizer”. Besides the title she was awarded an iPad.

Study unit Business Planning
How does this competition work? The candidates are first year students of the bachelor’s degree course International Business and Management Studies. In 6 groups they compete for the first prize. For their study unit Business Planning they present their management plans.

Such a plan consists at least of:
• Marketing Plan
• Market Research
• Financial Analysis

The jury judges on originality, feasibility, presentation, marketing support and financial foundation. The Twinfield Businessplan Award has been established on the joint initiative of HAN University of Applied Sciences and Twinfield, an international web service for online accounting.

Combination of education and entrepreneurship
The award has a clear link with the project HAN student companies. Entrepreneurial students get the opportunity to start up their own student company within the HAN. They run their own company for a year, supported by a lecturer, a tutor and an accountant working in the field, who they can turn to for advice.

So, who are we? We are InnoSolve and created a great product to make your life easier. We are Anouk Arts, Charmaine Douglas, Dasha Turgunbaeva, Roy van Vouw, Gao Zhang and Florian Mainz; a young and ambitious group of students, which experienced a lot during this challenging project. We have learned to work together, survived discussions, applied cultures, found new friends – even more, we succeeded as a group.

As we, SteadyRead, concentrate on making reading comfortable, we came to realise that reading while lying on the beach is one of the most uncomfortable reading positions. Our aim was to beat this problem! We have created a stand which holds up your book/iPad/e-reader and stops the wind from changing the pages of your book. There is no reason anymore not to take your thicker books to the beach anymore, as you don’t need to hold it! The BeachReader itself is made from plastic and therefore light to carry. The stability in the sand is created by the dowel at the bottom which you swirl into the sand. The stand can completely fold down into a small package, which makes it easy to carry.

You can also use the BeachReader in your home!

The BeachReader can also be used when you are lying in your bed or on the sofa. The dowel will be pulled up between the stability legs and therefore won’t be in the way when putting it down on the floor in your house. The height of the BeachReader can be adjusted and the panel can be adjusted to face you in the correct way as well.

Livezy, a new company started by 6 young, enthusiastic and innovative entrepreneurs. Together we formed a team and are all equally determined to give the company nothing less than the best.

When we started on this business plan we never expected that we would make it to the finals, all we thought of was how we were going to finish this huge project. The last week we worked as hard as we could to make this project to a success. When we finally handed our BSP in we were satisfied. All our hard work has been rewarded, we had nice marks and best of all we made it to the finals!

Imagine you are on a camping trip with your family, trying to have a good time. You have wanted to go on this trip for some time now and try to enjoy every moment of it. Are you too lazy to mown your lawn? You have to find someone to take care of your garden when you’re on vacation? Do you want to keep your properties neat with less effort and costs? We have a solution for everyone –it does not matter, do you have just a small back yard or a golf-club, we honor your time and want to make your life easier, there are much better things to do than worry about your grass.

Our business plan is a grass which does not grow higher than a certain point what keeps your lawn always look perfect. Our idea is to manipulate with the grass cells in research labs to find a way to create a grass what will never grow higher than (for example) 5 cm. It means that the grass does not stop growing but it will reproduce it’s blades in short time, so the ones what have grown the level will die and the younger ones will replace them.

Our target group will be really wide. All around the world there are a lot of people, organizations and companies who will find it useful and comfortable. For example football clubs, cities, golf clubs, all the citizens with gardens, schools, parks, kinder gardens etc… Everyone who has been taking care of their lawn for a longer time know very well how much time and effort it takes. Our new, improved grass will make their everyday life more flexible and free, because they will have one thing less to worry about.  We actually make the market for grass even wider, because there are always people who have not bought grass because of the work and responsibility what it needed before.

Hello everyone, my name is Angelle Besamusca and I’m writing this on behalf of Bhineka. Bhineka is a multicultural company consisting of 7 individuals.

At the beginning of this assignment, I wasn’t sure if we were able to do the huge thing. If we were able to really make a realistic business plan, and present it in front of a huge crowd. And right now, we’re in the finals! The past semester has been great, i personally gained so much experience from working with this people, and we had a lot of fun together. Together, we came up with our innovative product, Aww!

Aww is a phone cover combined with an iron and straightener. This product is capable of both ironing your shirt, and straightening your hair, and therefore this product is a new innovation of both the phone cover market, the iron market and also the hair straightener market.

Maybe you’re asking yourself now, Why would I need a product like this? I can just iron my shirt with a normal iron, right? Or straighten my hair with a normal straightener?

The answer to this would be, why would you use a normal iron or hair straightener, if you could use aww instead? Aww is an exclusive product and it’s a pathway to a whole new lifestyle in which perfection is the main focus. We all know the feeling when you’re running late for something, or everything is just not going as you planned it, and then on top of all that, you find out that there is a wrinkle in your shirt, or your hair is messy. And of course, you’re already on your way to work or school, and you don’t have an iron or a straightener with you.

Well, Aww is your solution! This phone cover is very easy to handle, has separate battery, and is very safe to use due the special metal we use.
